Future leaders need an educational environment which encourages, nurtures and provides strong direction for students to reach their full potential. At Sydney Boys High we equip our young men with the knowledge, skills and values to take control of their aspirations and turn them into reality.

Our success is built on a combination of strong traditions, innovative structures, pathways and programs as well as the powerful sense of belonging to one of the leading secondary schools in New South Wales.

Our past alumni include some of the best known names in Australia and overseas. Among our esteemed Old Boys are leaders in all fields of endeavour, from the arts to political life, law, medicine and commerce.

All students begin their leadership training in their early years at the school with research and critical analysis of leadership philosophies and styles in the Values Education course. They are encouraged to engage with the many opportunities available to actively develop initiative and motivation by contributing to the School Representative Council (SRC) or a range of valuable Community Service Projects.

As a member of the AAGPS and CHSSA sporting bodies, the school promotes leadership through a wide variety of sporting competitions, sports refereeing and coaching training. The school has an impressive track record in Debating, Public Speaking, Cadets and Outdoor Education which provide a diverse range of skills to develop confidence, competence and resilience.

Big Brother and Peer Support are programs which connect our new students to supportive and well trained ambassadors and mentors who help settle them into their new surroundings and make them feel welcome as part of our caring school family. Qualified senior Peer Mediators are on hand to provide efficient and harmonious conflict resolution if required.

All leadership programs are tied directly to a challenging Awards Scheme and, over their years at the school, a student is able to build a portfolio of skills, knowledge and achievements to become a Prefect or to submit scholarship and tertiary entrance applications which clearly demonstrate their comprehensive accomplishments in academia, sport, co-curricular activities and leadership growth.
