Ethos

Swimming at Sydney Boys High School aims to teach the skills of swimming and provide a framework for all swimmers to reach their full potential. The High ethos is built upon teamwork, good sportsmanship, self-discipline and self-esteem. It is hoped that each of our members will build upon these attributes in later life and through swimming create lifelong friendships.

Competition

Sydney Boys High School participates in the GPS Invitational Carnival series. The school's annual swimming carnival is held in early February and all boys are expected to attend. The school carnival includes as a showcase event the GPS invitational relay. The school carnival is used to select the school's swim team for the GPS competitions.

GPS, CIS and All Schools Carnivals

GPS Invitational Carnivals are held on Friday nights (7pm - 9pm) in Term 1. The Sydney Boys High School GPS team numbers approximately 30 students across all years and events. These Invitationals form selection events from which a Combined GPS Representative team is chosen. The GPS Representative team in turn competes at the Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Carnival and the NSW All Schools’ Carnival. Sydney Boys High School is highly competitive in GPS swimming with numerous students representing the Combined GPS.
