Sports Policy
Sydney
Boys High aims to provide opportunities for students to participate in
competitive team sports because of the personal development and social
adjustment benefits that such participation provides. Wednesday
afternoons are designed as training sessions for Friday night or
Saturday competitions. For various reasons a proportion of the student
body is not able to compete on Saturdays. Nevertheless, students
benefit from the Wednesday training regimes of drills, demonstrations,
instruction in technical terms and rules of the game, as well as from
organised games amongst themselves. The needs of boys who participate
only for exercise and enjoyment are addressed.

GPS Sport
Sydney
Boys High is unique among NSW state secondary schools due to its
membership since 1906 of the Athletic Association of Great Public
Schools, formed in 1892 to order and regulate sporting fixtures for
schools with senior students. The other eight members of this
Association - commonly called the 'GPS' - are private schools. The GPS
sporting fixtures are held on Saturdays. Sydney High students are
fortunate to be involved in what has become one of the highest standard
schoolboy sporting competitions in the world. Our policy is to support
GPS sports.
