Subject Choices

In Years 7 and 8 students at Sydney Boys High School have a limited choice of which LOTE (Languages other than English) subjects they will partake in. Going into years 9, 10 and 11, however, students have large choices to make:

  • For Year 9, students must select two elective subjects to study for the next two years.
  • In Year 10 students will study 3 elective subjects.
    • It is possible for Year 10 students to study an Accelerated subject as one of their elective subjects.
  • For Year 11, students have to decide which subjects they will study for the Higher School Certificate.

The school holds information evenings for parents of students going in to years 9, 10 and 11 to provide information about the choices they and their sons must make. This covers the structure of the timetable, the subjects available, and the process for choosing subjects. The presentations are available below:
